The importance of celebrating small milestones

When you work on large projects, it can be very easy to become overwhelmed. Making Skillshare classes is like this. From idea to finished class is a MASSIVE undertaking.

Since publishing my class "Watercolor Without Fear: Painting for Pattern Design" in the summer, I have been painting in my studio, and also grafting away on Part 2 of the class. And, *drumroll please...* this week I finally got to the FINISHED PATTERN STAGE!

Creating a pattern normally doesn't take this long, however I have been recording and teaching my process every step of the way, which has made it veeeerrrry slooooooow (deep cinematic voice).

But here, at last, is my new pandas and gibbons pattern, titled "Come Play, Panda!" which is available in several colourways. The completion of the pattern means that I have filmed, and explained, each step along the way.

My next step in class creation is to start from the beginning and edit each section, add B-roll, music etc. It's still a big job. Which is why it felt important to celebrate this milestone. The feedback - both on the pattern, and on Part 1 of the class (which got a "Staff Pick" on Skillshare and was featured on their homepage) - has given me impetus to keep going.

Here’s the pattern in four colourways: I’d love to know which one you like best: Turquoise, Cream, Teal or Navy? Let me know in the comments below!

I have uploaded the patterns to Spoonflower, and ordered samples. Once these are approved, you’ll be able to purchase this fabric from Spoonflower (Yippee!).

So, please celebrate with me today, and also, don't forget to pause and celebrate your own milestones.
